Signs of Hope at CPA

Coalition for a Prosperous America

There were signs of hope everywhere at last week's (virtual) annual conference of the Coalition for a  Prosperous America. The Buy American panel, which I co-hosted, featured strong commitments to that cause from Senator Tammy Baldwin, D. WI, Senator Cynthia Lummis, R. WY, and Representative Claudia Tenney, R. NY, as well as Brad Markell, head of the Industrial Council at the AFL-CIO.  CPA has made the session available here.

Senators Baldwin and Lummis both expressed strong support for country-of-origin labeling for consumer products sold on the Internet and fresh beef sold in retail stores, empowering consumer choice.

Representative Tenney expressed strong support for closing loopholes in the laws that ostensibly call for federal agencies to buy American-made products in their procurement.

Other sessions were chock full of information on why it is important to buy American-made and policies that can enable doing so.  They can be accessed on the CPA website here.
